USA Today Features Safeguard Medical in Article about Emergency Response Uncategorised | Katie Mapel 28/06/2021 Earlier this week, USA Today featured an interview with Corey Russ, President North America, who was a combat medic for the U.S. Army Special Forces with deployments to 30 countries and four tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. His opinion article highlighted the growing issue in the U.S. of deaths from traumatic injury – and how “initial responders” that arrive long before trained first responders can make the difference between lives saved and lives lost by performing simple, basic lifesaving tasks like CPR or applying pressure to the site of a bleeding. Through his experience and seeing the world through the eyes of a combat medic, once back home as a civilian – with vehicle accidents, severe weather events, unexpected acts of violence and more – he sees the unfortunate reality in America today is that more and more people are bystanders to traumatic injuries. And as a result, America must transform bystanders into “by-doers.” And that “the best place to find a helping hand is at the end of your arm” – meaning, we are perfectly capable of helping ourselves, and also those around us.
