Uriah Popp

My journey into pre-hospital trauma care began in 1996, in the US Army, as a Medical Specialist. I then completed training and served as a Special Operations Combat Medic, and later a Special Missions Unit, Direct Support Medic. I retired from military service in 2019 at the Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces, Fort Bragg NC, as their Medical Center’s Command Sergeant Major. 

The best part of my role with Safeguard Medical is engaging and interacting with Service Members. Additionally, I am afforded the opportunity to assist Commands in reducing morbidity and mortality, aid in Soldier Survivability, and build capability for the future fight. 

Like many former Service Members and First Responders, I have experienced trauma, so I build and create. Creation is how I positively work through past negative experiences. Restoring classic motorcycles and developing medical devices is my creative outlet. Safeguard Medical has fostered an environment conducive to healing and post-traumatic growth, and I am thankful for that. 

My position allows me to share the lessons I have learned with the next generation of Service Members, First Responders, and medical providers. As an industry, it is paramount that we remain diligent in expanding their capability and mitigate inefficiencies and capability gaps through intuitive products.
