Buyer/Planner Location Charlotte, NC Description Job Summary This individual is responsible for the planning and purchasing of raw material supporting custom kitting. This position will manage select suppliers to ensure on time delivery at competitive pricing while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns. This position will also manage creation of manufacturing orders for the production floor. The Buyer/Planner will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Operations. Essential Job Functions Source items for custom kitting requests. Item description will be given to buyer planner who will then use all means to find the product – product will at times need to meet TAA government compliance. Create manufacturing orders based on open order report, partner with operations manager to determine build priority.Forecast and plan assigned commodities at the SKU level.Manage suppliers to ensure on time deliveries, control inventory on hand, and ensure timely flow of material through incoming inspection. Manage inventories to ensure continuous production while maximizing turns. Develop thorough working knowledge of assigned commodities and associated supplier base. Develop a thorough working knowledge of required MRP / ERP system.Able and willing to work necessary hours to meet all project deadlines, travel when necessary. Develop mutually beneficial, respectful, and effective relationships with peers to ensure seamless coordination between departments, maximize synergy, and maintain a shared vision, strategy, and focus. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications B.S. degree and/or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience researching data whether in ERP system or on internet. Working knowledge of MRP systems. In-depth understanding of MRP concepts including bills of material. Must be “hands on” with strong problem-solving acumen.Strong analytical skills with attention to details. Required to have an extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office programs.including: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Intelligent Authoring by IHS is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, works independently, displays initiative and Solves problems with proficiency. Ability to work onsite in Harrisburg, NC (not a remote position) Will consider relocation assistance Competencies Demonstrates ownership and accountability; Demonstrates the ability to plan, execute, control and deliver, communicate effectively both written and verbal, perform repetitive tasks, multitask and prioritize, basic knowledge and understanding of the medical industry preferred, experience of warehousing preferred, Computer literate & experienced in Microsoft Office applications, experience of Sage 200 preferred. Physical Requirements Performing the duties of this job regularly involves sitting, standing, walking, hearing/listening, repetitive hand movement, grasping, reaching, lifting, carrying, bending/stooping, kneeling/crawling, climbing, balancing, pushing/pulling, and vision requirements – close vision, adjust focus, color code.
